Pastor’s Pen – March 2016

Joshua and the Israelites stood at the banks of the Jordan. They had waited a long time for this day, the day when they would commence the next step in the plan God had for them, taking possession of the Promised Land.

But just standing there would not get them across the Jordan River which was in flood at the time. They had to actually step into the raging waters and stand against the current before they saw any result of God’s action to get them into the land.

Now God was already doing something, he was cutting off the waters of the Jordan 30km upstream from where they were, but it would take some time before they saw the result.

Today we likewise stand on the brink of the next step God has in his plan for Mannum Baptist Church. Just because we can’t see it doesn’t mean that God is not already doing something. We need to prayerfully consider what His will is for us, and be prepared to step out into the strong current, knowing that He will act.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
